Swinger Singles: Four Things You've Been Told That Are Wrong
Almost everything an unattached person hears about this lifestyle before joining it turns out to be misleading, and the misinformation is remarkably consistent. Same four claims, repeated everywhere, all of them either wrong or backwards.
Worth dismantling them individually, because each one is stopping somebody from turning up.
Wrong Thing One: "It's Couples Only, Singles Are Tolerated"
The scene does not tolerate swinger singles. It runs on them, and single swingers are as central to it as any couple.
Any couple after a third is, by definition, after somebody unattached. A room heavy with couples does not function until singles walk into it. And across South African circles, where a few hundred people keep encountering one another, plenty of the most respected and most frequently invited names belong to people with no partner at all.
Unattached members also hold the widest set of options on the site. Everybody sees the route through couples. Almost nobody uses the second route, which is other singles, and there are far more of those about than newcomers assume, since a great many joined for the directness rather than for any specific arrangement. Work that out in your first month and your circle grows several times faster than it does for anyone sitting patiently waiting on couples. That circle, incidentally, is where the couple invitations usually originate.
Wrong Thing Two: "You Need to Be Impressive"
You need to be reliable, which is an entirely different thing and considerably easier.
The screening is about risk rather than glamour. Four questions: does this person honour a limit without needing a reminder, will they stay quiet about it for good, will they actually arrive when they said, and can they be pleasant company for two people at once rather than one. Not one item on that list is out of anybody's reach, and none of it involves a gym.
Reliability sits near-absurdly undervalued in all of this. Every scene on earth has the same running complaint about singles, which is that they cancel. Turning up at the agreed time, at the agreed place, having bothered with your appearance, puts you in front of most of the field before a word is exchanged.
Wrong Thing Three: "Single Men Have No Chance"
Single men are the most numerous group, so the inbox you are writing into is busy. That is true and it is where the accuracy ends.
What follows from it is the opposite of hopeless, because the standard of the competition is so low that ordinary effort reads as exceptional. Address the pair of them, quote something they genuinely wrote, and read like a person with a life going on elsewhere. Never be the one who made somebody feel rushed, because the pace belongs to them and the men who get asked back are the ones who never once leaned. Then let the effect accumulate. Couples compare notes ceaselessly, and a man with a name for being respectful, discreet and dependable finds invitations arriving unprompted, generally inside a few months.
For single women the arithmetic runs the other way entirely. You will be the scarcest category of member in any room, so opportunity is never the constraint and selection is the actual work. Single women looking for couples dictate the tempo throughout: a video call ahead of anything else, a first meeting somewhere public as standard, and an outright refusal of whatever feels wrong, with no explanation owed to a soul. Hold on to two habits for good. Weigh a couple as two separate people instead of as whoever handles the correspondence, since a partner you have never once heard from is a partner whose keenness is entirely unverified. And lean on the scene's memory, because couples who treat single women well carry reputations and so do the others, and asking a couple you already trust about one you do not is completely routine behaviour here. Our guide to meeting a couple sets out exactly what they ought to demonstrate.
Wrong Thing Four: "Aim for the Young Couples"
The opposite is true, and it changes results faster than anything you could do to your photographs.
Good evenings cluster around the established couples, for reasons that are entirely practical. Their limits are settled. They can actually host. Nothing unstable has been left lying about to detonate at eleven. What carries such a night is their competence, not three sets of nerves. They ask what your boundaries are because experience taught them what happens otherwise. And nights like those have a habit of turning into something continuing rather than a story told once.
Assembling that precise crowd is the purpose of this site: members through their forties and fifties together with the over-55s, the lot of them hoping somebody worth inviting shows up.
What Is Actually True
You are wanted, the bar is lower than you fear, and the people worth meeting are older than you assumed.
Verification applies to everybody here, distance orders the search results, and whoever opens your profile picked a mature-focused site on purpose. Unattached members turn up in searches and are welcome at everything, and any single looking for couple company will find plenty of it, whether you came for couples, for other singles, or simply to work out quietly how the thing functions. Just arrived? Our swinger couples page is worth an hour purely for the insight into how hosts weigh people up, and the local scene guide shows what is happening nearby.
Solo, not spare. The scene knows the difference even when the internet does not.
